With just months to go before The Hive – Wirral Youth Zone’s grand opening, our fantastic new building is really beginning to take shape ready for the official opening in April 2017.

To celebrate how rapidly development is progressing, a number of our generous funders including; Boulting Group, Edward Billington and Son Ltd, B&M Waste Management, Andrew Collinge Hairdressing, Selwyn-Lloyd Charitable Trust, Anne Duchess of Westminster’s charity, Wirral Council, St James’s Place Foundation, Geoffrey & Peter Bibby and Hill Dickinson were given a preview of site alongside members of our Young People’s Development Group.

Vice Chair of the Youth Zone, Peter Bibby proudly showcased the latest construction features of the building from the kick pitch on the roof, to the sports hall, music room and gym, which are all well on their way to completion.

Externally the building envelope is now almost complete and in the coming weeks the brightly coloured fins will be erected along Bright Street, creating a vibrant beacon for all to see. During the early part of December, the rooftop 3G Astroturf surface will be installed with the surrounding fencing and floodlighting.

Internally the building services continue to be installed with the walls, floors and ceiling finishes currently being progressed ready for completion. In addition, preparation will begin for the fantastic 9m climbing wall, which will be erected from January.
