Opportunities for young people

Opportunities for young people

There are lots of ongoing opportunities for young people to get involved in The Hive, even before it opens. Whether it’s being part of the development of the Youth Zone in Wirral and joining the growing Young People’s Development Group (YPDG), taking part in consultation events, or visiting one of OnSide’s open Youth Zones, we’re committed to making sure young people from Wirral have a voice in their Youth Zone.

So far we have engaged with over 500 young people from youth groups and schools across Wirral through a combination of visits to open Youth Zones, workshop sessions, development group meetings as well as online surveys.

Over 280 young people from across the borough have already decided to name the Youth Zone – The Hive. Young people have also been involved in interviewing the new General Manager and sitting on the panel to choose the architect to design the Youth Zone.

Email: david.barton@onsideyouthzones.org if you want to get involved.

YPDG Member Recruitment Day

YPDG Member Recruitment Day

The YPDG have been meeting to plan an event to recruit new members from across Wirral and engage with more young people, informing them about the Youth Zone.

This event will take place on Saturday 24th October as a drop in style event between 10-3pm. It will give the opportunity for young people to find out more about The Hive and share their thoughts and opportunities on what will make the Hive the best it can be for the young people of Wirral.

Meetings are planned every two weeks until the end of December with some of the following topics discussed; visits to open Youth Zones, young people becoming involved in recruitment, tips for interviewing a new Youth Engagement Worker, planning and delivering the 24th October event itself as well as social activity and collecting the views of other young people to represent to the board.

The young people are keen to invite a member of the board to attend this event and have also invited General Manager Stuart Barnes along.

Stay tuned for more young people events or email david.barton@onsideyouthzones.org
