Make a difference to the young people of Wirral!

Make a difference for young people on the Wirral

Our volunteers are integral to #TeamHive’s success. They’re at the heart of what we offer to young people – that’s why a culture of volunteering and an enhanced volunteering programme has been embedded into the The Hive since we opened in 2017.

Our passionate volunteers generously give their time to support and make a positive difference to the lives of young people. The diversity of their backgrounds means they strengthen our offer through their wide range of skills, experiences, ability and interests.

There are so many things you can get involved in: frontline fundraising, cooking up a storm in our kitchens, working as a trustee, standing in as goalie on the football pitch, training in the boxing ring or simply being a listening ear and having meaningful conversations with members.

We also recruit young people aged 15 to 18 from our membership of young people to support on our junior club and holiday club sessions. To learn more, click here.

Our mission

Our mission for volunteers

We work to create well-supported volunteer roles, so that every person donating time to help The Hive can understand how they’re helping to create real change for young people and our community.

We have a role to suit everyone – whether you can give a day a week, a few hours a fortnight or an afternoon once a month, there will be a role that fits your schedule.

In accordance with our Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures, all volunteering opportunities require an Enhanced DBS check, and all our volunteers are fully trained, with support on hand whenever it’s needed. What do our volunteers say?

what do vols say

Jodie Bateman – Volunteering
“I volunteer at The Hive because an investment of my time and talents with a young person is an investment in my community. I find the African Proverb “a child that is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth” really powerful and I want to be someone being a positive influence and empowering the young members of our society. Someone in the village who is part of the embrace.”

Jodie Bateman

Alex Tolond – Volunteering
“I volunteer at The Hive because I want to support young people in the way that I was supported. I enjoy giving back to the community and sharing all that I learnt whilst a member at The Hive with other young people”

Alex Tolond
