What we offer

JUNIORS

The place to come if you’re aged 8-12.

You’ll find tonnes of stuff happening every session – from climbing to footie and basketball, gymnastics, jamming in the music room, dance, salon nails and hairstyling, arts and crafts, cooking and baking, skateboarding and MMA. We also have all sorts of one-off events like animal visits, glow-in-the-dark sessions and as many games as you can think of in our rec area.

Don’t believe us? Check out a typical junior session!

SENIORS

The place to come if you’re aged 13-19 (or up to 25 with additional needs) to hang out with your friends and grab a bite. It’s also a place to challenge yourself, build your independence and explore where you’re headed. From band rehearsals, beat-boxing and DJ-ing to climbing challenges, NHS Cadets, Duke of Edinburgh, hitting the gym, gaming, pool, our infamous rec raves, young leadership, getting real-world work experience with major brands or teaming up with a mentor to unlock what makes you tick, theres something for everyone.

HIVEABILITY

All our activities are accessible for all young people with a disability or additional need. Our team works to make sure you can get involved with whatever you want to, with the right support.

But if you have an additional need, you can also choose to come along to our dedicated HiveAbility sessions too. You’ll find the same huge range of things to do across our art, music, sports, media, kitchen, salon and rec areas with a bit more support, space to reduce the noise if you need to and careful planning so that each area doesn’t get too busy. It’s a great place to develop your confidence to come independently but if it’s right for you, we can arrange for a parent, carer or a support worker to stay with you during these sessions. We can’t offer 1-1 support or personal care. If you’d like to come to a HiveAbility session, have a chat with us first so we understand your individual needs.

PROJECTS

Monday night is project night here at The Hive – when our friends from other partner organisations are here to offer different activities for members to try. You’ll also find certain projects run during other session times.

Hive outside

Our specialist youth workers don’t just work here at The Hive.

Thanks to support from North Birkenhead – Cradle to Career, you’ll also find them out and about engaging young people in Birkenhead and via our hub at Equilibrium North West CIC on Tuesday evenings, and out in Leasowe thanks to our friends at Prima Group on Thursdays and Fridays.

If there’s a location where you think we should be out and about, just let us know!

mentoring

Our mentoring programme enables young people to set their own personal goals and work towards them with the help of a volunteer mentor.

It’s a different way of providing support through a listening ear, encouragement and coaching – and our young mentees have achieved incredible things as a result.

Holiday club

Our holiday club runs during Christmas, Easter and summer holidays and in half term breaks when funding allows.

We offer 8-12 year olds a fantastic programme of structured activities led by our expert youth work team. Whether you love sport, arts, cooking or outdoor play, we’ll have something for you!

Hivers at holiday club enjoy healthy meals and snacks from our cafe as part of their day, and sometimes holiday club goes on tour – visiting local attractions like Chester Zoo.
