You may well be aware that Wirral Council are proposing a range of budget cuts from April. These include a reduction in funding for youth services of £200,000. What the information published by the council does not include however, is that it is proposed to cut this entire amount from The Hive.

number 1

What is the proposed cut to The Hive?

The proposed cut is £200,000 which is a 50% reduction in the support we rely on from Wirral Council.

What would be the impact of a funding cut of this size?

If the proposed cut in funding is approved it will put a significant amount of our work at risk. It would result in a reduction of services that currently support thousands of young people.

When will the council make their decision?

The consultation process is open until 22nd January and the council will agree their budget on 1st March 2021
