Here at The Hive we’re fundraising for Lucy Moroney (Lucy Pineapple appeal) – with lots of different activities planned for our members to get involved in. So far, we have raised money by making and selling jewellery and cupcakes, and this Friday our climbing team have organised a night-time walk up Snowdon.

Led by Hive Climbing instructor Andy Lee, a qualified Mountain Leader and former Marine with over 30 years climbing experience, the team of walkers will include Youth Workers and young people who are members of the Youth Zone.  Leaving Birkenhead at 1am on Friday their goal is to reach the summit by 6am in time for sunrise!

Andy is hoping that this fundraiser will catch the imagination of Wirral’s young people, and their families, to sponsor the team and raise money for Lucy.

‘’The height of Snowdon is 1085 meters, and we’re hoping that we can turn those meters into £’s. It would be a fantastic achievement to complete the walk knowing that we had helped support this appeal for a local young person in need’’.

Lucy Moroney, aged 9, from Heswall was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) and her family are desperately trying to raise £300,000 to help get alternative treatment.
