Sports Youth Worker

Salary: £8.21 per hour (depending on experience) 

Various evening and weekend hours available 

Job Purpose:

To help develop and deliver an exciting sports programme of activities which will engage young people aged 8 – 19 years (25 with disabilities) at Wirral Youth Zone.  To provide direct line support, coaching, and development for sports sessional workers and volunteers to ensure young people receive a high-quality service.  To utilise sports in the wider youth work agenda supporting and encouraging young people to express themselves, explore issues and facilitate personal development.

 

Duties and Responsibilities – Detailed

 

  • To help plan, coordinate and deliver a comprehensive sports programme for young people aged 8 to 19 (25 with disabilities) at Wirral Youth Zone which will enable them to build their confidence, social skills and overall wellbeing
  • To ensure that the sports programme is high quality and meets the needs of the young people, including young people with additional needs and disabilities and young people who typically don’t engage in sports
  • To ensure that the sports programme contributes to the wider youth work agenda, supporting the development of young people
  • To motivate, encourage and support young people to participate fully in sports sessions
  • To identify during sessions any relevant issues or areas of development for young people and ensure that these are targeted in the arts programme delivery
  • To maintain a comprehensive and detailed up-to-date inventory of all equipment owned and/or used by the department
  • To ensure all sport activities in the Youth Zone is safe and complies with Wirral Youth Zone policies

Catering Assistant

Salary: from £8.21 per hour (dependent on experience)

2 x Saturday evening shifts of 6 hours each

Job Purpose: 

The Hive, Wirral Youth Zone, is open to young people 7 days a week, evening, and weekends and for some young people The Hive will be a second home.  The café area is an essential part of the offer to young people and as a catering assistant you will play a key role, cooking inspiring and healthy dishes to service to young people as well as proving a warm and welcoming environment to all young people.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To undertake the preparation of food and beverages served in the recreation area as well for events, internal meetings and room hire
  • To serve food and beverage to Youth Zone members, ensuring they receive a great level of customer service
  • To assist with the production of and costing of menus
  • To comply with stock control procedures
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is regularly cleaned, reporting any faults/repairs required
  • Ensure all Health and Safety and Environmental Health requirements are adhered to, namely:
    • Reporting of all equipment not working properly
    • Reporting of any health and safety issues
    • Compliance with food hygiene regulations
    • Ensure food is stored correctly and at correct temperatures
    • Recording of all high-risk food temperatures on delivery and prior to service, if applicable
  • To assist with the ordering and control of all stock
  • Cash handling in line with The Hive’s financial procedures
  • Maintain a clean working environment as set out in the cleaning schedule by ensuring regular cleaning of all work surfaces, storerooms, and ancillary areas
  • Clearing tables
  • Washing up
  • Undertake such other additional duties which may result from changing circumstances
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management

Weekend Team Member

Salary: from £8.21 per hour (dependent on experience)

Saturdays 3.45 – 10.15pm and Sundays 2.45 – 7.15pm

Job Purpose: 

We are recruiting for enthusiastic and energetic people to become part of our youth work team across Saturdays and Sundays.

Youth Work, alongside sport and art is at the heart of The Hives offer to young people. The Hive’s Youth Work team are key to supporting all young people to reach their full potential as well providing them with someone to talk to and encouraging them to engage on their own terms, with the wider offer and programme at The Hive.
