Head of Fundraising

£ Competitive (dependent on experience)

A unique opportunity for an experienced fundraising manager to lead on the generation of income at Wirral Youth Zone, a recently established charity with a state-of-the-art building offering a wide range of activities and targeted services for young people.

The Hive Youth Zone opened in Wirral April 2017 and has already attracted thousands of members from across the borough and beyond through its fantastic facilities. The Youth Zone is a registered charity which provides positive activities and practical support, with the aim of enabling young people to make constructive use of their leisure time, raise their aspirations, improve their health and well being and achieve their potential.

The Role

The Head of Fundraising will have responsibility for the generation and management of income through a range of revenue funding streams predominantly including major donor development but also private sector partnerships, grants and trusts, individuals and fundraising events. The post holder will line manage a grants and trusts executive and work with volunteers.

The Person

  • You will have substantial experience of corporate and major donor fundraising together with partnership work and relationship management.
  • You will have a track record of securing significant funds through a wide variety of income streams and meeting challenging financial targets.
  • With an ability to establish a rapport and communicate effectively with stakeholders, you will have excellent networking and interpersonal skills.
  • As an organised and IT literate person, you will be self-motivated, tenacious and able to work under pressure and to multiple deadlines.

Climbing Youth Worker

Part time positions from £7.83ph – £9ph depending on experience 

The Hive are recruiting for an Indoor Climbing Supervisor to join the sports team. As a member of The Hive’s Sports Team you will be key in ensuring young people have access to an exciting sports activity programme that will be challenging, stimulating, fun, engaging, and developmental. You will be involved in teaching the fundamentals of indoor climbing involving leading small groups on our onsite climbing wall.

A successful candidate will hold the Climbing Wall Award (CWA)

The Hive is open every day after school, at weekends, Bank Holidays and school holidays, and gives young people a high-quality place to go in their leisure time. The state-of-the-art £6 million building provides young people with access to a range of facilities, including a 4G pitch, a gym, sports hall and recreation area, and dance, arts, music and media suites.

The Youth Zone offers young people the opportunity to try new things, meet new friends and gain support from friendly, warm and positive staff and volunteers, with the aim of helping them to become happy, healthy and successful adults. Outreach Youth Worker

Salary: £7.83 – 9.00 per hour

We are looking for experienced youth workers with experience of working in Outreach to ensure we are encouraging young people from across Wirral to attend the Youth Zone. You will work directly with young people to enable and encourage them to access the Youth Zone’s facilities; working in a challenging environment, remaining calm under pressure, dealing with challenging behaviour whilst maintaining overall discipline with good humour and continuing to engage with the young people. To approach and engage with groups of young people in the community, building relationships and helping to both keep them safe and reduce anti-social behaviour. To sometimes co-ordinate action and collaboration between different agencies, enabling the Youth Zone to function in the best way and with the greatest impact to the local young people and their community. To maintain relationships with other local stakeholders in the development and running of the club.

  • Main duties and responsibilities
    • To make contact and establish relationships with young people from all areas of The Wirral
    • To encourage and enable young people to participate in a range of personally challenging activities at a local youth zone.
    • To work directly with children and young people to develop their social skills and build their confidence by delivering programmes of activities and services;
    • To regularly deal with challenging behaviour in a closed environment, in a safe, fair, friendly and consistent manner;
    • To directly deliver a high-quality programme of activity that is exciting, safe, varied, innovative, developmental and directly responds to the diverse needs, concerns and interests of the members;
    • To design and promote a programme of activities to ensure that opportunities are accessible to all who wish to become involved;
    • To work flexibly to ensure the needs of the members are met, including disadvantaged children and young people and those with disabilities or additional needs;
    • To ensure that the members maintain a high standard of behaviour and discipline during sessions;
    • To ensure the participation of young people in activities and that their ideas contribute fully in the delivery and evaluation of activities;
    • To support and motivate other staff and volunteers working in your and other areas;
    • To maintain records of young people’s attendance and discipline, update central data and report to your line manager.
    • To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people at all times;
    • To be an active member of the team and operate in line with the values and principles of Wirral Youth Zone.

Seasonal/Holiday Club (Bank) Staff 

Seasonal positions  £7.83ph

The Hive Youth Zone are recruiting flexible seasonal staff members to cover school holidays and other events where additional team members are required.

A flexible approach to working hours is required for these positions, as is the ability to work as part as a team. A driving license would be desirable (although not essential)

Inclusion Youth Worker (Holiday Club only)

Youth Work, alongside Sport and Art is at the heart of The Hive’s offer to young people. The Hive’s Youth Work team are key to supporting all young people to reach their full potential as well proving young people someone to talk and encouraging young people to engage on their own terms with the wider offer and programme at The Hive.  Inclusion is at the core of everything we offer at The Hive and we strive to ensure that all young people with disabilities and additional needs can access our offer.  Working as part of the Youth Work Team you will support young people with disabilities and additional needs to access the full programme ensuring that all young people have a positive and engaging experience during their time at The Hive, and that their support needs are met.

Duties and Responsibilities (overview)

  • To work closely with young people with disabilities and additional needs who access the offer at The Hive, ensuring that support needs are met and that they experience a positive, engaging and fun experience during their time at The Hive.
  • To liaise with young people and parents where appropriate, to gain a full understanding of young peoples support needs during their time at The Hive and ensure that a suitable plan is in place to support these needs.
  • To act as a positive role model to young people with disabilities and additional needs, with a positive attitude to helping them achieve their full potential.
  • To work directly with children and young people to plan, lead and deliver safe, fun and structured and informal sessions, activities and challenges within the Youth Zone which are progressive, fun, engaging and reflect the needs of young people, in particular and in line with the need of young people and your own experience to support in:
    • The Rec Area
    • Training Kitchen
    • Health and Wellbeing Room
    • Outreach
  • To confidently manage and establish positive relationships with groups of children and young people with children and young people.
  • To complete all monitoring information required for impact measures, to encourage feedback from young people taking part in activities, and share this with the staff team regularly.
  • To work with young people from a range of backgrounds and with a range of needs.
